ABOUT US
OUR MISSION IS TO LEAD PEOPLE TO CONNECT AND COMMIT TO JESUS
Our mission for CrossPointe is simple; we want CrossPointe to be a growing, vibrant, missional church for this and future generations. We will stand on the truth of Scripture and we will not be swayed by the whims of our culture. We will teach the truth of God boldly and we will encourage members to relentlessly pursue a passionate life of reckless obedience to our Savior and King. We pray for God to add to His church as He pleases and we will strive to do anything and everything we can do to impact our culture with the life-changing, life-giving message of the gospel. We believe the result will be a church that resembles the churches established by that first generation of Christ followers. We also believe that the impact of such a church will spread across generational and ethnic lines, producing a church for anyone who loves Jesus, for those who want to learn about Jesus, and for those who want to serve Jesus.

The following are some of CrossPointe's core beliefs, based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible.
Our teaching and ministry are rooted in and flow from these biblical doctrines.
There is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all-powerful and all-knowing, and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him, we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being. God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-loving, and all-wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.
Jesus is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation, He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross, He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord.
Man is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. In the beginning, man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice, man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan, man transgressed the command of God and fell from his original innocence, whereby his posterity inherits a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Therefore, as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors and are under condemnation. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
We believe men divinely inspired by God penned the Scriptures, consisting of sixty-six books, from Genesis to Revelation. Therefore, we confess God as its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error for its matter. All Scripture is true and trustworthy as the means by which God specifically reveals Himself to man. We believe Scripture is complete, sufficient, unchanging, enduring and serves as the center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried.
Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers eternal life as a free gift to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.
The Church is designed to be the visible body of Christ, sent into the world to glorify God and proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ.
God will bring the world to its appropriate end in His own time and in His own way. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth, the dead will be raised, and He will judge all of humanity in righteousness.
Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The act of baptism has no saving power in itself, but is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and the Lord's Supper.

As a church, we affirm the following statements:
How it all started...
CrossPointe Church actually began as Calvary Bible Baptist Church. In 1976 Bob and Joy Burney moved to Westerville with a desire to plant a brand-new church. The first service was held at the Grange Hall on College Avenue. Before long the church outgrew that facility and merged with the Morse Road Baptist Church. As the church continued to grow, the decision was made to buy land and build a new building on Cleveland Avenue. Bob continued to pastor the church until 2000 when he stepped away to create Cross Power Ministries and to focus on his daily Christian radio talk show. Herb Koonce became the second pastor of the church and served in that capacity until 2008.

IT'S A NEW DAY
Matt Keller started his ministry at the end of 2008. For the last decade, the church has gone through many important transitions, including adopting a new name in 2018. Today, CrossPointe Church is a healthy, vibrant, growing ministry with an exciting vision for the future and a passion to reach Westerville and beyond with the life-giving message of the gospel.
