Taking The Next Step

Mar 12, 2023    Pastor Matt Keller

Welcome to our church's sermon series "Forward by Faith" where we explore what it means to move forward in our spiritual journey with unwavering faith in God. In this week's sermon, we will dive into 1 Kings 17:8-16, where we witness the miraculous provision of God through the story of the widow of Zarephath.

In this passage, we see Elijah, a prophet of God, sent to a foreign land during a time of severe drought and famine. As he arrives, he encounters a widow who is gathering sticks to make a fire to prepare the last meal she and her son have before they die of starvation. Despite her dire circumstances, she welcomes Elijah and shares what little she has with him. In response, God blesses her with an abundance of flour and oil, sustaining her and her son until the end of the famine.

This story reminds us that God is always faithful to provide for our needs, even in the most challenging times. It encourages us to have faith and trust in God's provision, no matter how limited our resources may seem. It also challenges us to be generous and hospitable, just like the widow of Zarephath, even when we have very little to give.

Join us for this powerful sermon as we learn to move forward by faith, trusting in God's provision and being a blessing to others, no matter our circumstances.
