Sovereignty on Trial

Aug 18, 2025    Pastor Matt Keller

God's sovereignty is absolute, yet this truth often challenges our human desire for control and explanation. Using the metaphor of a potter and clay from Romans 9, we learn that God has complete authority over His creation, making some vessels for honor and others for dishonor. While God demonstrates His wrath and power through judgment, He also reveals His mercy and glory by preparing believers for salvation. This divine sovereignty doesn't eliminate human responsibility—we still act according to our desires—but it ensures our choices fit within God's ultimate plan. Understanding this truth should lead us to trust God's authority, live purposefully as vessels of mercy, share the gospel boldly, and rest in His undeserved love.
