Embracing the Call to Confront
Aug 28, 2024 • Pastor Matt Keller
The Bible presents confrontation as a necessary and loving practice within the Christian community, contrary to the world's view that often sees it as negative. Paul's decision to delay his visit to Corinth, as explained in 2 Corinthians, was an act of love to avoid causing pain and to promote joy among the believers. Jesus' teachings and biblical wisdom, such as in Proverbs 27:5-6, emphasize that confronting sin is crucial for accountability and spiritual health. Before confronting others, self-examination is essential to ensure pure motives and a humble approach. When done with love and concern, confrontation leads to repentance, restoration of joy, and a strengthened community that upholds honesty and mutual support.
